Purebred Da Hong Pao This tea comes from a single varietal propagated asexually from the mother trees. Due to its specific propagation method, there is no concept of second or third-generation tea. Its production is extremely limited, which makes it very expensive.

Tasting notes:

Da Hong Pao is what producers put forth as the quintessential Wuyi oolong. Expect a rich, satisfying body with a lot of presence, and a lingering sweet aftertaste with notes of ripe stonefruit. A good Wuyi oolong should stand up to many steeps, and not exhibit any harsh sourness or excessive roast taste.

As one of the most famously celebrated teas in China, Da Hong Pao (translated as either 'Big Red Robe', or more poetically, 'Grand Scarlet Robe') is surrounded by myth and legend.

Brewing:

Independent from teaware you use to steep Da Hong Pao, the steeping temperature should be always at 100 C (212 F). For easy brewing simply steep 2-5 gram of leaves for 3-4 minutes in a teapot or mug.
